Description
Rhododendrons at Mount Hood, Oregon.
Oregon’s Mount Hood National Forest is located just 50 miles east of Portland, Oregon. It covers more than 1 million acres and is visited by almost 5 million people each year. It’s also the home to Mount Hood, a 3,426.7 m (11,235 ft) glacial peak that’s said to be the second most climbed peak in the world behind Japan’s Fuji-san.
Every Summer the wild rhododendron bushes bloom throughout the Mount Hood National Forest, some with a view of the mountain beyond. Mount Hood is located in the northern part of the state of Oregon 50 miles east of the city of Portland.
